Call for Projects – Presentation

The Pitch Hall is a digital content “marketplace” that will enable seasoned and up-and-coming industry professionals from different countries to buy or sell innovative content. The Pitch Hall will serve as an incredible business opportunity for content creators and producers (web series, web documentaries, interactive content, online videos, interactive content, transmedia projects).

The Pitch Hall will enable the people behind these projects (directors, producers, etc.) to present their projects to partners, collaborators, potential buyers, and a wider audience.

Who?

The Pitch Hall is a vehicle for up-and-coming professionals who want to present their projects to a select audience of local and international new media content buyers (e.g.: Yahoo!, Dailymotion, Tou.tv…etc). The Pitch Hall will enable these professionals to be part of an event that focuses on the business side of content production, i.e. sales, co-production, exploitation of formats, etc. The first activity of its kind in Canada, the Pitch Hall will serve as a unique brainstorming, networking and exchange forum for industry professionals.

What?

The projects presented may preferably be series of at least 5 episodes or clips. These can be in development or completed and previously broadcast, and will be projects for which the promoters want new commercial outlets.

All content categories (drama, documentary, animation, lifestyle, etc.) will be selected for their quality, originality and innovativeness.

The content presented can be web series, web documentaries, online videos, animated content, interactive content, cross-media content, etc. and must correspond to the following criteria:

  • Projects in series format must have at least 5 episodes (produced or currently producing/writing)
  • The length of each episode must be no longer than 15 minutes, credits included.
  • No racial or discriminatory content

Where?

The Pitch Hall will be held in two designated screening rooms (each, with a capacity of around 100 seats) at the Coming to your screens conference site, the Hyatt Regency hotel in Montréal. Both rooms will screen content simultaneously, and buyers/sellers/visitors will be able to circulate from room to room. The hall in front of the screening rooms will be set up as a networking space.

Approaches

Professionals and filmmakers interested in this Call for Projects are invited to submit their project between February 25 and April 15th, 2014 (see Submission heading)

  1. Only authors of selected projects will be contacted.
  2. On May 1st, the day of the event, each selected team will have 20 minutes on stage to present and pitch the merits of their project.
  3. A panel of industry experts will select the three to five most interesting projects to be presented at the Pitch Challenge on May 2nd.

The Pitch Challenge

logo-pitch-challenge
The Pitch Challenge will take place on May 2nd. The best projects selected the day before will be presented to a group of buyers, the conference participants, and other guests who will be attending this event specifically for this activity (over 300 people in all). National and international buyers who are interested in a project will be able to make an offer on the spot.
